OVERVIEW:

The MK52 heatbed has embedded high Curie temperature magnets. These magnets are able to firmly hold removable spring steel sheets.

The Satin sheet further expands our line-up of print sheets. In terms of printing properties, the Satin sheet sits between the smooth and textured variants. Its powder-coated surface with lightly textured matte finish offers an optimal level of adhesion, especially when printing PLA and PETG materials. It is fully compatible with a wide range of common and less-common filaments, such as ABS, ASA, FlexFill 98A, Polycarbonate and more. A vast majority of materials can be printed without a separation layer (e.g. glue).

Polycarbonate - prints better on satin (compared to smooth and textured sheets) - when printing with PC often, glue stick layer is recommended to prevent possible damage to the sheet.

Find more details about the spring steel sheets (including usage and maintenance instructions) in our knowledge base.

WARNING:

Never clean the Satin powder-coated spring steel sheet with acetone! Doing so will create microfractures in the texture, which will make the surface deteriorate over time. Learn more about printing on the Satin powder-coated steel sheet in our knowledge base.

Note:

Consumable parts, such as PEI sheets (smooth, textured, etc.) are not covered by warranty as the coatings are designed to diminish over time unless failure has occurred due to a defect in materials or workmanship. Cosmetic damage, including but not limited to scratches, dents, cracks or other cosmetic damage is also not covered by the warranty (example of a cosmetic scratch that does not affect functionality). Only defective sheets on arrival are covered by warranty.

Filament compatibility

ATTRIBUTES

Suitable for both PLA and PETG

Acetone causes the surface to quickly deteriorate

Lightly textured surface finish

Prints from ASA, PC Blend require a brim / skirt / shield around the print

No need for Windex for PETG

Live Z value needs to be readjusted if you switch sheets

No need for glue stick with FlexFill 98A

DO NOT use sharp metal objects (e.g. a spatula) to remove the print!

Wide range of supported filaments, including advanced materials, for instance PC Blend

Easy maintenance and good adhesion qualities

This is a killer for all other kinds of sheets, IMHO!

I used a few times it with PLA and PETG. It rocks! It has a nicer surface than the smooth sheet. I like it more than textured. It holds PLA well and you can detouch PETG very easy, whereas the first layer of PETG adheres very good basically as good as PLA. Very nice!

The best

I am using it for PLA, PETG and FLEX. With 3D printed spatula (to avoid scratches) I even dont touch the buildplate, and I do not have to remove it too. Just cooldown, remove the print with 3D printed spatula (it will pop-off easily), and start next print, no matter what next material will be.

I strongly recommend this buildplate over the textured and PEI ones.

100% PETG first layer success rate

900 meters of PETG printed on my blemished (got the one with flawed printing or something.. I can't tell) Satin sheet. EVERY print has had excellent first layer adhesion. PLA doesn't care for it or I need to dial it more so I'm switching to the smooth for PLA now. I need another sheet so don't buy this until I get another. Thanks!

This is what Goldilocks would buy

I've had my Prusa Mk3s+for a few months now yet have completed some 400+ hours of printing. Recently, the parts I needed printing took up the entire bed and it exposed some issues in my learning curve. Basically PETg wasn't' always sticking to my textured plate and it often stuck too well to the Smooth plate...it just seemed that I needed something in between! this is no one that has solved my problems...I think it awesome.

The perfect surface for PLA *and* PETG

I absolutely love this satin spring sheet and used it for many PLA and PETG prints. It gives the prints a nice smooth but matte surface, which blends in very well with the layered sides.

The best thing is how well it works with PLA *and* PETG, so I can keep this sheet on the printer and never changed it since I bought it.

The adhesion for PLA prints is just a little bit lower than the regular sheet, but still high enough to hold even high objects securely to the bed.

For PETG, it feels the adhesion is slightly higher than with the rough powder-coated sheet, but the objects still can be easily removed.

After printing PLA, the sheet is perfectly clean, so if you don't touch it you can start the next print without any additional cleaning.

Fine Surface

I got mine a few days ago after I couldn't get my hands on one on the release date, The print surface is really fine, with the proper settings you can't see the lines like you would on the flat surface, it's kinda like a matte finish but it is clearly not textured. If you want a glossy look you should go with the smooth or textured plate.

I LOVE IT!

I got the satin sheet as one of the first 300 orderers on Black Friday and I have to say it is just awesome.
Have tested it so far with PLA and PETG, the adhesion is perfect!
I can highly recommend this sheet!
When the sheet is cold after PETG printing, PETG goes down perfectly (it's just lying on top), while it holds perfectly during printing.
