The MK52 heatbed has embedded high Curie temperature magnets. These magnets are able to firmly hold removable spring steel sheets.

Powder coating directly on metal makes it very hard to damage this build plate. If a heated nozzle crashed into it, the metal can dissipate the heat. Powder coating also gives the surface a distinct textured look that will be visible on your prints. The textured surface hides most of the mechanical damage caused by tools. Only the top of the small bumps can be scratched, which will not imprint on the bottom of the model. This surface is used on our print farm, look at the printed parts you have on your printer for reference.

Find more details about the spring steel sheets in our knowledgebase.

Never clean the Textured PEI Powder-coated spring steel sheet with acetone! Doing so will create microfractures in the PEI texture, which will make the surface deteriorate over time. Learn more about printing on the Textured PEI Powder coated steel sheet on our Blog.

Consumable parts, such as PEI sheets (smooth, textured, etc.) are not covered by warranty as the coatings are designed to diminish over time unless failure has occurred due to a defect in materials or workmanship. Cosmetic damage, including but not limited to scratches, dents, cracks or other cosmetic damage is also not covered by the warranty. Only defective sheets on arrival are covered by warranty.

Tiny dots may appear on the PEI-Ultem steel sheet surface. These can slightly affect the finished print bottom surface. However, they do not impact the printing process, reliability in any way. We do not consider these dots a reason for a warranty claim.

All sheets are checked and verified to be within tight specifications. However,
these specifications are both considering the manufacturing method and the sheets function (adhesion and durability used with certain material types), but not the cosmetic aspect of the pattern left on printed parts. We can not guarantee the pattern left on your printed objects will match perfectly from sheet to sheet.

Filament compatibility

Scratchproof, hard to damage

PLA prints with a small contact area may need a brim

Transfers texture to prints

PLA prints with a huge footprint may warp

More forgiving Live Adjust Z setting

Need to change Live Adjust Z if you also own Smooth PEI sheet

No need for Windex with PETG

Never clean with acetone

No need for glue stick with FLEX

Prints automatically detach after sheet cools down

First layer can be more squished compared to smooth sheets

textured sheet

i do not use anything else but the textured sheet never needed anything to hold prints down and the textured on the print is perfect for product faces

Didn’t work at all!

I’ve just spent the better part of two days trying to get PETG to stick to this sheet but nothing works! I’ve used IPA, warm soapy water, everything. I’ve done extensive calibration tests again and again but nothing makes any difference. Either the extrusion is too squashed and I get bubbles and tear ups or it simply peels up and gets caught on the nozzle. Very disappointed.

Poor for general use

Pros: Good for PETG parts with large, solid footprints, never had a part stick too hard to it.

Cons: Terrible adhesion with PLA, Pro-PLA, and flexible filaments. Average to poor adhesion with PETG if part has small details or support material. After a year of intermittent use, this my sheet is basically worthless and I only use my other smooth PEI sheet (from a US vendor).

Would not recommend for general use unless you only print big PETG parts or want low adhesion for some reason.

This is not suitable for PLA

I hate to review this negatively, but based on my experience over the past 3 weeks, i think you guys who may be considering purchasing this deserve to know.

This absolutely has major issues with adhesion when printing with PLA. I have tried all methods or cleaning, bed and nozzle temp adjustments. Prints, especially near the edges, will pull away and curl. You may be able to get good results with glue or tape or other tweaks, but that's not the point.

This is advertised to work with PLA and no mention is made of special accommodations.

At present I have tried one other brand of PEI PC sheet and the difference is night and day.

Do a little research and look up some reviews before you purchase this, i wish I had.

On a positive note i have no issue printing PETG on it.
