Pale Gold 1.75mm PLA / PHA filament by Colorfabb for use in 3D printers.
PLA / PHA is a hybrid material which combines two bio-polyesters. It's tougher and less brittle than pure PLA, still biodegradable and easy to print. And one more thing - it can be partially smoothed with acetone.

PLA / PHA is a blend of PLA with PHA (polyhydroxyalkanoate). The basic characteristics are same as PLA - it’s biodegradable, easy to print, and a very strong. The perfect choice for printing large objects thanks to its low thermal expansion (little to no warping) and for printing tiny parts because of its low melting temperature.
But PHA adds some more advantages. At first, this material is less brittle and more durable than PLA. It's also more flexible and the surface of objects is "soft-like". Thanks to PHA it is also partially soluble in acetone which makes post-processing a little bit easier compared with standard PLA. Also, colors are more vibrant because PLA / PHA is more opaque.
However, it's still PLA, so the material has a low-temperature resistance. Parts start to lose mechanical strength at temperatures over 60 °C.
The combination of being both biodegradable and having low-temperature resistance means that it’s not ideal for outdoor use, not to mention low UV-resistance.
Even though PLA / PHA is biodegradable, and the material on its own is food safe, we do not suggest to repeatedly drink or eat from your 3D prints. Because of the small fractures on the print surface, bacteria can build up in there over time. You can prevent this by applying a food-safe coating.
