¡Conoce al F.I.N.D.A!
It’s amazing!
I don’t write any reviews. The only reason I did this time was due to the miss understanding a lot of the negative issues you see online about the mmu2s stem from older versions that haven’t been addressed or upgraded. I managed to get my first print done with little to no complications just proper placement of the spool decks and filament buffer and it ran fine. Follow the instructions and you’ll find yourself in no time testing out the first print.
Tune your filament settings and it's perfect!
I've had the MMU2S on my MK3S for a little over a month now. Printing with primarily Inland & Hatchbox PLA & ABS. Once you have fine tuned your temperatures to achieve the "desired retracted filament tip" It prints flawlessly. I've ran a 22hr print with over 400 tool changes and not one single issue. Again, make sure you're tuning your filament profiles to get those "good tips".
Awesome
Great piece of work guys! Very quick delivery in a secure box. I was very excited to assemble the MMU2S. because I already saw a lot of videos what this thing is able to do :)
Assembling was no big deal. Just follow the very good explained manual including pictures and you should be good.
THe very first start was tricky, till I understood what the issues are, how to get rid off and/or fix the problem. But once you are thru all this, you can start with the software. And once you understand that as well, than is the MMU2S a very powerful unit with all his options and possibilities!
So I am very happy having the Multi Material Unit 2S.
Since I have this, my printer is running almost 24/7 in my lack enclosure!
Thanks for all you efforts guys! Very nice work!
Greetings from Germany
Daniel
Great work!
To use the MMU2S with fun and without repeating error messages, just follow the assambly instructions carefully and use quality Filament. I've successfully tested prusament, other premium Filament, "standart quality" and some Chinese Filament too. If you buy cheaper Filament, the risk of getting print errors raises much.
The MMU itself works perfectly! I love it :)
My MMU2S experience
Now that I've had the MMU2S upgrade running for a month, I feel that I can finally give my review.
The build was straightforward for me. Excellent documentation, if you take the time to read it and the comments thoroughly.
Once I got through the initial learning phase and understanding the process better I am completely satisfied with the usage, performance and model quality produced from this product. I am using the stock Prusa Slicer profiles and the LACK MMU enclosure for all my MMU printing.
I've posted a few of my personal MMU creations on PrusaPrinters and am blow away by the color details produced.
Like any new tool, you need to take the time to understand it before simply using it.

Great Concept But Needs Refinement
I always loved the idea of printing in different colors and materials on the Prusa and this upgrade ways one of the reasons that I bought the printer. The problem is that the unit is EXTREMELY sensitive and requires days of tuning (both mechanically and in the slicer) to get it working perfectly. It is a great concept and creates some awesome parts but if you buy this plan for around a week of just tuning before your prints are perfect.
Best value upgrade for tinkers
This is not something for beginner I would say. The hardest part is to get things dialed in. Read instruction and troubleshooting carefully. You will be able to get really nice and consistent result
Great tool for your MK3!
Yeah, I'm the guy who wrote the first review. To be honest, Prusa makes some of the best innovations in the 3D Printing world. The review, which I made in early February, was a 3/5 simply because I thought the idea was unfinished and needed tweaking. The learning curve was steep.
However, the new update to this upgrade, and to the MK3, has changed my mind. A lot of my problems with the MMU2 was because of the loading and unloading sequence. If the temperature was off by 4 degrees, the chance of a jam increased dramatically. However, with the new redesign of the MK3S extruder, this has changed. Because of the new IR sensor, the loading sequence is a lot more consistent and I have not experienced a jam since I upgraded. Assembly is like the MK3S: it is relatively easy, but takes a while; luckily there is no section as difficult as the extruder in the MK3, which still was not very hard. If you're into building things yourself, this is for you!
Since the upgrade, the learning curve is more bearable and customer support is always there if you have a problem, which should be less frequent now.
My only problem with this is the wipe tower. Of course, this upgrade would be wayyyy more expensive if it added more nozzles and did away with the wipe tower, but for now, you will have a little block in the corner of your build plate that takes a significant amount of plastic to change the colors. Sometimes, if the color is not "purged" enough, it will leave marks on the print, so make sure you really dial in your color change settings.
Overall, a great improvement by Prusa and his team, hats off to you! You all have really changed my mind about this product and I wish the best to you and your projects.
I hope this helps, and good luck!

Great concept, but needs a little more development. Better for e
I've had this upgrade for my MK3 since late November. As with the MK3, the assembly was straightforward and only took me a day. However, it takes extremely precise tweaking of both physical parts and slicer settings to get good results. Took me more than a week to get consistent prints, but that was a long time ago and the firmware and hardware have been improved quite a bit since then. You may need to mess around with the perfect spring tensions, filament sensor height, and retraction settings before getting consistent results. But trust me, you'll get good prints eventually, but just be patient. If you have good experience in 3D printing troubleshooting and understand how the parts of this upgrade work, you should be fine in troubleshooting it yourself or people from forums can help you out. Make sure you know what you're doing with this! It may take a while to get good results.
However, this is still basically one of the best options for multimaterial printing on the market as of early 2019 for this price. Just be aware of what you're getting into.
I hope this helps, and good luck!
